Any Enterprise that is considering moving to more Agile practices, must first address the contradiction between a business model that favours predictability with a new product development framework that is centered on adaptability
I first discovered Agile. Later on I discovered design thinking. Then I learned about scaled Agile and finally, Lean Startup. But once I had understood all four, I realised that I had a complete, end to end Product development model.
The agile manifesto puts it front and center by stating “we respond to change over following a plan”. And User stories are one of the primary ways that we can shift to this more agile mindset.
When we talk about prioritization, we are fundamentally talking about prioritizing the backlog, as this is the single source of truth when it comes to the product. We also know that it is the Product Owner who is accountable for prioritization. No other topic shows the skills and abilities of a good Product Owner more that their ability to successfully prioritize the product backlog.
